Yarn Fanatic Linky Party #29 – The Philosopher’s Wife Sponsored Giveaway – And My BIRTHDAY!
Well, friends, grab your favorite skein of yarn and your coziest chair, because today is a very special edition of the Yarn Fanatic Linky Party, and I am bursting with excitement! This is party number twenty-nine — can you even believe it? — and this week we have an absolutely incredible sponsored giveaway from The Philosopher’s Wife, PLUS it just so happens to be my birthday. So yes, there is a lot to celebrate, and I want each and every one of you to celebrate right along with me.
Whether you are a longtime member of this little fiber arts community or you are joining us for the very first time, welcome. Truly. This community is one of the most generous, creative, and warm groups of crafters I have ever had the pleasure of being part of, and every single week you all remind me why I started this blog in the first place. Now let’s get into all of it — the party, the giveaway, the birthday musings, and everything in between.
A Little Birthday Reflection
I know, I know — nobody comes to a yarn blog expecting a birthday essay. But humor me for just a moment, because birthdays have a way of making you sit down with a cup of tea and think about things. This birthday feels significant. Not in a dramatic, milestone-number sort of way, but in a quiet, grateful, “look how far we’ve come” sort of way.
When I started EyeLoveKnots, I genuinely was not sure anyone would want to read about yarn. I thought maybe a handful of crafty folks would stumble across a tutorial now and then, and that would be that. What actually happened has been one of the most wonderful surprises of my life. You showed up. You came back. You brought your friends. You shared your projects, your questions, your wins, and even your frogging frustrations. You made this place a community.
And the Yarn Fanatic Linky Party has been such a central part of that. What started as a simple weekly link-up has turned into something I genuinely look forward to every single week. Seeing what you all are making — the blankets, the shawls, the amigurumi, the hats, the garments — it never gets old. Every week I am inspired all over again.
So today, on my birthday, I want to say thank you. From the bottom of my very yarn-filled heart. Thank you for reading, for linking up, for commenting, for sharing. You are the reason this little corner of the internet is such a happy place to spend time.
Now — onto the giveaway, because I am even more excited to give you all something than I am to celebrate my own birthday!
Introducing The Philosopher’s Wife
If you have not heard of The Philosopher’s Wife, get ready to fall completely in love, because this is a shop that speaks directly to the soul of every yarn lover. The Philosopher’s Wife is an independent yarn and fiber arts business known for beautiful, thoughtful products that are made with care and creativity. The kind of shop you discover and immediately want to tell every knitter and crocheter you know about.
What makes The Philosopher’s Wife so special is not just the quality of the products — though the quality is absolutely exceptional — but the heart behind them. There is a genuine passion for the craft woven into everything the shop offers, and you can feel it the moment you encounter the work. This is not a mass-produced, assembly-line operation. This is someone who truly loves yarn, loves makers, and loves the creative process. That comes through in every single thing they do.
I am so honored that The Philosopher’s Wife agreed to sponsor this week’s giveaway, especially given that it falls on my birthday. It feels like the most perfect gift I could possibly share with this community — the chance for one of you to win something wonderful from a shop that I genuinely adore.
The Giveaway Details
Okay, here is where things get really exciting. The Philosopher’s Wife has put together a giveaway prize that is going to make one very lucky crafter absolutely thrilled. I want to be careful to encourage you to visit The Philosopher’s Wife shop directly to see the full range of what they offer, because once you land on their page you are going to want to browse for a long time.
To enter the giveaway, here is what you need to do:
Leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite thing to make with yarn. That is it to get your first entry! But you can earn additional entries by following EyeLoveKnots on your favorite social media platform, following The Philosopher’s Wife on social media, and sharing this giveaway with your crafty friends. Every entry counts, so do not leave any on the table.
The giveaway will run for one week from the date of this post. The winner will be selected at random and announced right here on EyeLoveKnots. Make sure you check back — and make sure your email or contact information is somewhere I can reach you if you win, because there is nothing sadder than a prize going unclaimed!
A huge, huge thank you to The Philosopher’s Wife for this generous sponsorship. Please take a moment to visit their shop and show them some love. Supporting small, independent fiber arts businesses is one of the best things we can do as a community, and The Philosopher’s Wife is the kind of shop that truly deserves all the support in the world.
Welcome to Yarn Fanatic Linky Party #29!
And now, the main event — well, one of the main events, because around here every week has multiple main events apparently!
For those of you who are new to the Yarn Fanatic Linky Party, let me give you the quick rundown. Each week, this link-up is open to anyone who wants to share their fiber arts content. That means finished objects, works in progress, patterns you have written or are loving, tutorials, yarn hauls, project planning posts — anything related to knitting, crocheting, weaving, spinning, or any other fiber art you practice. If it involves yarn or fiber, it belongs here.
The party goes live each week and stays open so that you have plenty of time to add your links. Everyone who links up is encouraged to visit a few other links in the party and leave some comment love. That reciprocal spirit is what keeps this community feeling warm and connected rather than just a list of links floating in the internet void.
Here are the simple guidelines for linking up:
Please make sure the content you are linking is family-friendly and appropriate for all ages. This is an inclusive, welcoming space and we want to keep it that way for everyone who visits.
Link to a specific post, not just your blog homepage, so that visitors can find exactly what you are sharing.
Try to visit at least two other links in the party and leave a genuine comment. The more we support each other, the more this community grows and thrives.
You are welcome to add the party button to your post or sidebar — it helps spread the word and brings more crafters into the fold, which benefits everyone who participates.
That is truly all there is to it. Simple, low-pressure, and all about celebrating the incredible things you are making.
What I Have Been Making Lately
Since it is my birthday and I am feeling a little celebratory and chatty, I want to share what has been on my hooks and needles lately. Because what is a yarn blog without a little project talk?
I have been absolutely obsessed with textured stitches lately. There is something deeply satisfying about a stitch pattern that creates dimension without requiring a complicated construction process. I have been experimenting with a few different bobble and puff stitch variations, and honestly, the results have been making me so happy. There is a blanket currently growing on my hook that I think might be one of my favorite things I have ever made, and it is truly not a complicated project — just a beautifully textured stitch repeated across rows of a cozy, worsted weight yarn in the most perfect earthy tones.
I have also been dabbling in some colorwork, which is a little outside my usual comfort zone but has been such a rewarding challenge. There is something about the way colors interact when you are working them together — the way one shade makes another pop, or how two colors you might not expect to work together end up being absolutely magical — that keeps drawing me back to it even when it requires a little more concentration.
And I have a secret project in the works that I cannot say too much about yet, but let’s just say it involves a lot of mini granny squares and I am deeply, happily obsessed with it.
A Few Project Spotlights From Previous Parties
One of my favorite parts of hosting this linky party is getting to see the incredible things you all create and share week after week. I want to take a moment to celebrate a few of the types of projects that have been showing up lately, because the talent in this community is genuinely extraordinary.
The shawls and wraps that get linked up consistently blow me away. There is such an art to shawl construction — the way a designer can create something that drapes beautifully, works up relatively quickly, and still manages to feel like a wearable piece of art. Whether it is a simple crescent shape in a gorgeous gradient yarn or an intricately lace-patterned wrap that looks like it should be in a museum, the shawl game in this community is seriously strong.
Blankets are always a crowd favorite, and for good reason. A handmade blanket is one of those projects that carries so much love and intention. Whether you are making a baby blanket for a new arrival, a temperature blanket documenting a whole year, a classic granny square throw, or a modern geometric design, blankets represent so much of what is beautiful about this craft. They take time, and that time shows.
And the hats! Every season, the hats that get shared in this party remind me that there are basically infinite ways to make what is essentially a tube of fabric with a closed top, and yet somehow every single hat feels completely unique. Pom-poms, cables, slouchy fits, fitted beanies, ear flaps — the creativity never runs out.
Tips for Getting the Most Out of the Yarn Fanatic Linky Party
If you are a regular here, you probably already know the rhythm of the party. But if you are newer, or if you have been linking up but not quite getting the engagement you were hoping for, here are a few thoughts on how to really make the most of this community space.
Write a post that tells a story. Yes, photos of your finished object are wonderful and people love to see them. But the posts that tend to draw the most comments and clicks are the ones where the creator shares something about the experience of making the project — what they loved, what challenged them, what they would do differently next time, why they chose that yarn or that pattern. People connect with people, not just products.
Engage with others in the party. This one cannot be overstated. If you want people to visit your blog and comment, visit other people’s blogs and comment. Be genuine, be specific, and be kind. A comment that says “what a beautiful project, I love how you used that blue!” is so much more meaningful than a generic “great post!” and it shows the creator that someone actually looked at their work.
Share the party. The more people who participate, the more vibrant and useful this link-up becomes for everyone. Share it on your social media, mention it in your posts, tell your crafty friends. Every new participant makes the party better for all of us.
Celebrating Fiber Arts All Year Long
One of the things I hope this party does — and one of the things I hope this blog does, more broadly — is remind people that fiber arts are worth celebrating year-round, not just in certain seasons or around the holidays when everyone suddenly wants a hand-knitted gift.
The creative work that knitters, crocheters, weavers, and spinners do is remarkable. It combines mathematical thinking with artistic expression. It connects us to centuries of human history and tradition. It produces objects that are functional and beautiful and made with our own hands. It is meditative and social and deeply personal all at once.
And it is a community. That is maybe the thing I love most. When you learn to knit or crochet, you do not just learn a skill — you get access to a whole world of people who share your obsession, speak your language, and will never once judge you for having too much yarn. (Stash enhancement is always justified. This is a safe space.)
So whether you are here for the giveaway, the linky party, the project inspiration, or just to celebrate my birthday with me, I am so glad you are here. This community is genuinely one of the great joys of my crafting life.
Let’s Party!

Here is to yarn, creativity, community, and another wonderful year of making things with our hands. Happy crafting, everyone — and happy birthday to me!
